About

My driving passion is to find out how things work. I love to take things apart (I recently discovered I enjoy putting them back together again too) and websites are no exception to the rule. I regularly spend time picking apart designs and code so I can learn new techniques and expand my knowledge.

As well as being a designer I have a lot of other interests, music being the biggest. I play guitar, sing , write and produce music.  I also enjoy photography, you can view my photos on my Flickr page.

Amélie Noack (Website and Logo)

http://www.amelienoack.co.uk

Amélie Noack is a Psychotherapist based in London and Bristol. She was after logo that represented hands holding a light, but at the same time took the form of a lotus flower. I have tried to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, whilst presenting the information in clean and concise manner.

Tech Spec: The website is built on wordpress.

Platinum Development Logo

Winning entry for a 99 Designs competition.

The brief requested a logo that was legible at a variety of sizes ranging from a website logo, to a sign in front of a house. They added later that they wanted the logo to be made up of 3 parts. My logo uses two vertical lines, that are meant to represent tall buildings, and a curved line that forms the shape of the P.

Tech Spec: I used Photoshop for the initial design, I then recreated it in Illustrator on winning the competition.

PC Basics is a long established and highly respected computer training company. The website promotes their new business opportunity. They were after a clean website that communicated well.

Tech Spec: XHTML, CSS, JS, PHP. The website is built with HTML & CSS. It uses jQuery and PHP for the response form.

I was commissioned by Caren Garfen, Contemporary Textile Artist, to produce a website which reflected her style of art work. Her priority was to have a site which was easy to navigate and to be innovative with a touch of humour.

Testimonial: “I have been most impressed by Ben Herbertson’s professionalism and flexibility. He has listened to my requirements and has produced a website of a high standard which I am very pleased with.” – Caren Garfen

Tech Spec: Flash (AS2), XML. The website was made in Flash Actionscript 2. All the text on the site is taken from text files and styled with CSS.
